Beka Hossere Water Project (March 2016-Present) (9)
In April 2016, Breaking Ground began the construction of a underground water pump in the village of Beka Hossere, Adamaoua Region. The project, funded by Memorial Flavia, will provide 3500 residents with potable water, reducing the risk of waterborne disease among the population. -
Investing in Agriculture (2008-Present) (34)
Our Small Enterprise Development program provides training and resources to increase the ability of individuals and families to earn money through their primary income-generating activities, such as growing coffee or cocoa or processing palm oil, better enabling them to invest in their own local initiatives. -
Breaking Ground Football (2007-Present) (26)
Breaking Ground Football brings together teenage girls from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, creating a second family for them where they can build trust and friendships. In a cultural atmosphere in which the girls are responsible for raising children and maintaining a household, BGF gives them a healthy outlet through sport. -
Women's Entrepreneurial Program (2007-Present) (37)
Founded in 2007, Breaking Ground's Women's Entrepreneurial Program (WEP) provides women with critical business skills and the confidence to put them to use. Our seven-week business course incorporates topics such as feasibility studies, basic marketing, cost analysis, and leadership, among others. -
Keuleng Preschool and Community Center (2009-2010) (35)
“This project is the future of our village. It will change the lives of our young children," says Keuleng father Paul Sonkeng. In partnership with community leaders, Breaking Ground launched construction of this combination preschool building and community center in November 2009. -
Menouet River Bridge (2008-2009) (30)
Construction of the Menouet Bridge Project finished in early 2009, connecting tens of thousands of villagers to a nearby city and increasing their access to markets. -
Glory Bilingual Nursery and Primary School (2008) (37)
In 2004, Madame Becham used her own savings to start Glory Bilingual Elementary School in Ngaoundal, a district where government studies estimate that only 35% of children attend school. With funds from Breaking Ground, work began in March 2008 to build a three-classroom facility. The school was inaugurated on June 28th, 2008. -
Doumbouo Primary School (2006) (54)
Our first project at École Publique de Doumbouo transformed the dilapidated school into a fully constructed and operational educational institution for the central village of a region called Doumbouo (“Meeting Place”). The teaching staff of Doumbouo embodies the community’s joyful enthusiasm, patient adaptability, and fierce determination. -
Public Library of Bafou-Sud (2006) (26)
Constructed in 2006 as Breaking Ground's second big initiative, the Public Library of Bafou-Sud houses a collection of French and English books and is widely used by students and teachers in the village of Doumbouo.
